Joanna's Tank Top

Joanna's Tank Top Free Crochet Pattern
I made this for my daughter and named after her.
This size is for toddler: 1-3 years old. This can be modified at a multiple of 8+1.
Note: Embellishment is optional. See list of appliques that you can use here.

Materials:
3mm crochet hook
Red Heart Wintuk sport yarn 2ply

Gauge: 6 ch =  1 inch
             4 rows of  sc = 1 inch

Abbreviations used:
st = stitch
ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
sp = space
sk = skip


Puff stitch - Yarn over, insert the hook in the stitch, yarn over, draw the yarn through the stitch, yarn over, and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook.
2 loops remain on the hook.
In the same stitch, repeat the preceding step twice.
You should have 4 loops on your hook.
Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops on the hook.

Instructions:

Make two. (Same instructions for front and back)
Ch 33
Round 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and each remaining sts. Turn.

Round 2: Ch 1. Sc in nxt st and each remaining sts. Turn.

Round 3-4: Repeat Round 2.

Round 5: Ch 3. Dc in same st. 2 dc in nxt st and each remaining sts. Turn.

Round 6: Ch3. Dc in same st. *Sk 3 sts. Puff st on next st, ch3(ch-3 sp), another puff st in the same st as first puff st. Sk 3, dc in nxt st, ch2(ch-2 sp), dc in same st.**
Repeat *-** 6x. Sk 3 sts. Puff st on next st, ch3, puff st in the same st. Sk 3, 2 dc in nxt st. Turn.

Round 7:  Ch 3. Dc in same st. *Dc, ch 2(ch-2 sp dc in ch-3 sp. Dc, ch 2, dc in ch-2 sp**.
Repeat *-** 6x. Dc, ch 2, dc in ch-3 sp. 2 dc in next st.
Turn.

Round 8: Ch 3. Dc in same st. *Puff st, ch3, puff st in ch-2 sp. Dc,ch2,dc in next ch-2 sp**.
Repeat *-** 6x. Puff st, ch3, puff st in last ch-2 sp. 2 dc in next st. Turn.

Round 9: Repeat Round 7.

Round 10: Repeat Round 8.

Round 11-31. Keep repeating Round 7 and 8 alternately until Round 31 or until desired length.

Last round:  Repeat Round 8 but do not turn. Fasten off.

After finishing the back and front, using the same kind of yarn, with right side  facing each other, sew the edges starting from the 12th round down to the bottom. Please refer to the pic below.

For the shoulder strap: Make 2.

Ch 30.
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining sts. Turn.
Round 2: Ch 1. Sc in 1st st and each remaining sts. Turn
Round 3: Repeat Round 2.
Round 4. Ch 1. Sc in 1st st and each remaining sts. Fasten off.

Attach the strap at the top of the tank. Finish off and weave all ends.
Strap and body
Sew the sides together and the strap.
